How Chamomile can help with that time of the month.
How Chamomile can help with that time of the month.

Ever feel like “that time of the month” can get in the way of life?!  We feel you!

This month we are diving into how Chamomile tea can help get you out of your monthly funk and back to living your normal life!

First let's start with the essentials...

Things you need in your medical cabinet: aspirin, Band-Aids, antacids, and ... chamomile tea?

Yes we said it...Chamomile tea is essential!

This powerhouse tea possesses antispasmodic properties, which can relieve the painful cramps associated with the menstrual periods . Also, it helps modulate the actions of dopamine and serotonin, helping to offset or at least reduce the impact of depressive symptoms

For thousands of years, the herbal tea has been heralded as a natural cure for many conditions. The fragrant tea has been used as a sedative to calm nerves and has been touted to have anti-inflammatory properties.

Several studies have linked chamomile tea to reduced severity of menstrual cramps. A 2010 study, for example, found that consuming chamomile tea for a month could reduce the pain of menstrual cramps. Women in the study also reported less anxiety and distress associated with period pain.

A study published in the Jan. 26 issue of the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry has found that chamomile tea contains compounds that may help fight infections due to colds and relieve menstrual cramps.

Reduce cramps and fight against colds!  YESSSSS...Definitely essential.

Another one of our favorite tea ingredients wants a shout out on this topic as well.

A powerful anti-inflammatory (and sister to one of our favorite superfoods, turmeric), ginger has been proven to reduce menstrual symptoms. Studies have even found ginger to be as effective as ibuprofen for easing inflammatory pain.

We like to drink the Terrific Turmeric and the PJ Soiree before bed.  Depending on the time of the month and the mood they are both a great pre bedtime ritual.  Sleep Tight!
