I think we can all agree that the best part of any morning is the first sip of your favorite cozy beverage. There’s something about the way a warm matcha soothes the soul and sets the tone for the day. However, not everyday looks the same. Some days I crave a collagen matcha latte, others a golden matcha, and others a plain matcha latte. I try to listen to my body and honor what it’s craving.

Aside from my morning beverage being a staple in my morning routine, so is morning movement. I don’t always wake up motivated to work out and when that happens I look to my matcha to enhance my energy. However, I like to add a secret ingredient to give me even more of an energy boost to power me through my workout. Here’s a hint: it’s a miracle micro algae that has been named “the best food of the future.” Interested? I would be too.

The secret ingredient that I’m referring to, is spirulina. It has been gaining popularity fast due to its ability to help you stay focused, nourished, energized, and it helps support weight loss by curbing cravings. It is also one of the richest plant-based sources of protein (60-70% which is more than two times the protein in red meat).

It contains 18 amino acids, including all essential amino acids and 10 of the 12 non-essential amino acids. It is also a great source of phytonutrients, copper, iron, manganese, potassium, and B vitamins. Its effective pre and post workout, it strengthens your immune system, floods your body with nutrients, and is essentially a hug for your brain. Now can you see why I love adding it to matcha for an extra boost? And the best news is that you can too!

Here is my favorite way to add spirulina into my daily diet:

Miracle Matcha Latte:

  • 1 cup oat milk                                                                                                 
  • 1 tsp hemp seeds
  • 1 date
  • ½ tsp Soirée matcha
  • ½ tsp spirulina powder

Add all ingredients into a high powered blender and blend until incorporated. Pour into your favorite cozy mug and be prepared to feel vibrant + well! Alternatively you can blend all ingredients without oat milk and froth it on the side and add the frothed milk on top after it’s blended.
